Intended Audience

Professional rescuers (EMS, Police, Fire) who require certification or renewal of any existing certification.

Description

During this class, you will learn how to provide effective CPR, use an AED, and assist somebody who is choking. You will acquire skills for treating adults, children, and infants. You will also learn the five links in the adult Chain of Survival:

  • Immediate recognition of cardiac arrest and activation of the emergency response system
  • Early cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with an emphasis on chest compressions
  • Rapid defibrillation with the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Effective advanced life support
  • Integrated post-cardiac arrest care

In addition, you will learn two-rescuer CPR and ventilations utilizing a BVM.

Outcome

Upon completion of this course, each participant will receive an American Heart Association BLS Certification valid for two years.

Requirements

  • You must be fully vaccinated (and boosted, if eligible) for COVID-19. Please bring your proof of vaccination to class.

Yes, private group training is available. SVAC has provided CPR classes, for families, civic groups and businesses. If you are interested in setting up a private group training class, please email cpr@scarsdalevac.com.

While there is no official minimum age we recommend that participants be at least 12 years old.

SVAC courses are designed for anyone with limited or no medical training. They are also for individuals who need a course completion card for job, regulatory or other requirements.

Yes, after successfully completing the course you will receive an American Heart Association certification card valid for two years.

Rescue breathing is taught during the class but you will not have to perform "Mouth to Mouth" resuscitation.

The CPR class is open to everyone regardless of where you reside.
